Scar Camouflage
Scar camouflage creates a natural-looking result by depositing pigment into the lighter scar tissue to match the surrounding skin, creating a seamless blend. Pigments used are created specifically for scar camouflaging. For darker and textured scars, it may be recommended to begin with Inkless Scar Lightening & hyperpigmentation protocols. Scars will never become invisible, however we can dramatically improve their appearance through a range of sessions (2-4 sessions are typical).
Inkless Scar Lightening
Inkless scar camouflage integrates the use of organic oils, vitamins, and minerals with dermopigmentation techniques. Scars undergo a process of cell turnover by depositing medical-grade vitamins and minerals into the skin, promoting the reconstruction of collagen. Elasticity and cell turnover minimize the color and texture of scars. *If the scar is dark or textured, the practitioner may suggest this method first to improve texture and color, especially for dark scars.

Our client had significant dark and purple scarring on her tummy tuck scar. She came to us already undergoing laser treatments, which had little effect on her results. We performed 2 sessions of inkless lightening. One more session is needed in this case, followed by scar camouflage in order to fully minimize the scar appearance.

While there may be some improvement by camouflaging over a dark scar, the results over time are not as effective nor as aesthetically pleasing as camouflaging over a while or light scar. Our goal is to lift as much pigment out of a dark scar as possible. One the scar lightens, clients may be content with the scar appearance. Others may wish to continue with camouging. Either way, our approach of lifting pigment first provides more cosmetically pleasing results over time.
